NEW DELHI: In the largest single draw of lots conducted by the Delhi Development authority in recent years, as many as 3,818 flats were allotted by the DDA on Wednesday to successful applicants of the DDA Housing Scheme-2006.

Under the scheme, two and three-bedroom flats and expandable houses have been allotted in various parts of the Capital including premium colonies such as Sarita Vihar, Dwarka, Motia Khan, Shalimar Bagh and Rohini. The cost of these flats ranges from Rs. 13 lakhs to Rs. 55 lakhs depending on the location and the covered area.

The computerised draw of lots was held at the DDA headquarters in Vikas Sadan in the presence of four judges. To ensure transparency during the draw, Professor S.K. Gupta and Professor Maheshwari of IIT Delhi, Additional Secretary in Ministry of Urban Development Acharya and Engineering Chief of Public Works Department R. Subramanyam had been invited.

During the draw, the DDA also installed a giant screen at the Vikas Sadan reception to enable applicants to view the conduct of the draw.

The flats were allotted in the general category as also under the priority quota to physically handicapped, ex-Servicemen, war widows, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

The scheme had evoked a tremendous public response and a total of 200,506 applications were received which was the highest number received so far for any scheme by the DDA.

The results of the draw have been put up by the DDA on its website -- www.dda.org.in -- and also been displayed at the main reception of Vikas Sadan.
