Traders meet Ministers

NEW DELHI: A delegation of the Confederation of All-India Traders (CAIT) met Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy here on Wednesday to demand incorporation of remedial measures for sealing into the new Master Plan for Delhi-2021.

Expressing concern over some proposals in the new Master Plan, the traders submitted a memorandum pressing for an amnesty scheme or any similar measure to regularise business establishments that existed on December 31, 2005.

Thyagaraja Aradhana planned

NEW DELHI: Vasundhara Enclave Sarveswara Samaj will be organising the 160th Sri Satguru Thyagaraja Aradhana on January 21 at Sri Sankatahara Ganpathy Temple in Vasundhara Enclave here.

The Samaj has been organising the Thyagaraja Aradhana for the past seven years. This year the programme will begin with Ganapathy Pooja, followed by singing of Sri Thyagaraja Krithis and group rendition of Thyagaraja Pancharatna Krithis.

Tubewells to be closed

NEW DELHI: After ensuring supply of filtered water in all the pockets of Vasant Kunj following the commissioning of the Sonia Vihar water treatment plant, the Delhi Jal Board has decided to close all 117 tubewells in the area from which water was being supplied so far. While the DJB has already closed down 62 tubewells on New Year's Day, the remaining 55 will cease to operate soon. The water utility will also be closing down more than 100 tubewells in Vasant Kunj.

Train gets extra stoppage

NEW DELHI: For the convenience of rail passengers, Northern Railway has given the Sapt Kranti Express operating between Muzaffarpur and Delhi additional stoppage at Aligarh Junction.

Similarly, one additional AC-III tier coach and one general second-class coach have been added to the Pushpak Express operating between Lucknow and Mumbai.

"Exercise regularly"

NEW DELHI: Schools should ensure that all students participate in a minimum of 30 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity during the day, Heart Care Foundation of India president K. K. Aggarwal said on Wednesday. He said the list of negative health outcomes associated with physical inactivity including heart disease and Type 2 diabetes was on the rise among the youth.
