Haryana to improve health centres' functioning

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Health Department has decided to adopt the concept of Indian Public Health Standard (IPHS) to provide standard quality care and help in monitoring and improving the functioning of the Community Health Centres (CHCs) in the State.

Haryana Health Minister Kartar Devi said here on Wednesday that with the launch of the National Rural Health Mission, a fresh look had been given to the functioning of the CHCs.

The IPHS would cover care of routine and emergency cases in surgery and medicine, round-the-clock delivery services (normal and assisted deliveries), essential and emergency obstetric care, surgical interventions like caesarean sections and other medical interventions, full range of family planning services, safe abortion services, newborn care and routine and emergency care of the sick children.

It would also cover blood storage facility, essential laboratory servicesand foreign body removal, she added.
