House burgled

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI : Unidentified miscreants escaped with 75 sovereigns of gold from a locked house in Rajamangalam police station limit.

Police said here on Wednesday that J. V. Ramamurthy of Rajaji II Street in Rajamangalam police station limits had been to Tiruvannamalai district to offer pooja in the temple with his family. When he returned home on Wednesday morning, he found the front door locks broken open. The gold kept in the almirah was missing. Two fingerprints have been lifted from the scene of crime.

A case of house break-in has been registered. Further investigation is on.

Two days ago, a case of house break-in was reported from the same area when the inmates were away. Miscreants had decamped with Rs 2.50 lakh in cash and 42 sovereigns of gold.

The police should intensify the night patrolling in the suburbs as otherwise such instances of criminal activities may become a common scene, the public feel.
