LUCKNOW : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav is not averse to a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation into the Noida serial killings, but would first like the two-member committee appointed by the State Goverment complete its probe. Talking to reporters here, Mr. Yadav said he would not hesitate to refer the case to the CBI if the committee's findings were unsatisfactory. He had not ordered a probe by the CBI as its work was time consuming and there was the possibility of the case losing track. Mr. Yadav said police and administration officials would be punished if the committee found them guilty of dereliction. He expressed satisfaction with the Noida police role in unravelling the crime and arresting the accused. As for his not going to Nithari in Noida, Mr. Yadav said his visit would have diverted the attention of officials from the case. His party leaders would visit the village soon. Earlier, addressing a function to mark the inauguration of 172 bridges and laying of the foundation for 140 more, the Chief Minister lashed out at the United Progressive Alliance Government for its "non-cooperation." Still a record number of 330 bridges had been built in the three years of the Samajwadi Party rule without Central assistance, he said.
