Dharna for rail development on January 15

KOCHI: Kalamassery Poura Samithy will hold a mass dharna before Railway Division Office in Thiruvananthapuram on January 15 raising issues like development of Kalamassery railway station and allotting stop there for passenger trains.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the samithi attended by K. Chandran Pillai, MP, and A.M. Yusuf, MLA. Kalamassery municipality acting chairperson Gracy Peter presided.

The move came in the light of Railways not accepting the demands after many protests by the samithi.

The railway officials were not giving due recognition as a major outer city for Kochi metro, the samithi office-bearers said.

Fax messages to Lalu

The meeting decided to send fax messages to Union Minister for Railways Lalu Prasad on January 10 and would hold a public convention on February 12.
