Two persons held in cheating case

The Punjagutta police on Wednesday arrested two persons, Madhusudhan Bhongir, 71, and his son Vinay Bhongir, 42, in connection with a cheating case referred by a local court here.

A non-resident Indian G. Pradeep approached the court stating that he donated Rs 1 lakh five years ago to the father and son, who were running a voluntary organisation, for helping the poor.

He charged them with misusing the donation and failing to give details of the amount spent.

Labourer jumps into Meerpet tank

A childless labourer, G. Swamy, 25, of Lenin Nagar, committed suicide by jumping into the Meerpet tank on Wednesday.

The L.B. Nagar police said the victim got married two years ago and slipped into depression since he had no children.

Man killed in road accident

Srisailam, 30, was killed on the spot and a couple riding pillion on his motorcycle sustained serious injuries when a tractor hit the motorcycle near Chandangar gate in Moinabad at midnight on Tuesday.

A resident of Chenvelli village in Moinabad, Srisailam was returning home from the city on his bike when a couple - Suresh and Niramala - travelling on the same route requested him to drop them at Moinabad. The injured couple was admitted to a private hospital.

Hit-and-run case

An unidentified man aged about 25 years was killed in a hit-and-run case near Kumar theatre in Kachiguda on Tuesday night.

The victim clad in a brown shirt and grey trousers was crossing the road when a vehicle knocked him down and sped away.

Mechanic held on sodomy charge

The Tukaramgate police on Wednesday took into custody a three-wheeler mechanic, Shaik Chand, 18, on the charge of having unnatural intercourse with an eight-year-old boy.

According to police, the boy was playing with his friends at RRC grounds when the mechanic took him to a corner and sexually assaulted him and fled the spot.

He was later picked from his house at Addagutta.
