dated January 5, 1957: Govt. offer rejected

The Communist Party has decided not to take advantage of Government's offer to broadcast a 10-minute summary of their election manifesto, Mr. Ajoy Ghosh, General Secretary of the party, said in New Delhi on January 3. Mr. Ghosh said the parties could have been given an opportunity to broadcast their full manifesto as well as short speeches. As this had not been granted the Communist Party was not accepting the Government offer.
