Commercial broadcasting and advertising through All India Radio would not be conducive to the healthy development of broadcasting in the country, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has conveyed this in reply to a communication from the Southern India Chamber of Commerce. The advisability of having commercial broadcasting and advertising through AIR had been carefully considered on several occasions in the past and it had been decided that such broadcasting should not be introduced now, it added.
