HUBLI: Revenue and district-in-charge Minister Jagadish Shettar has directed the officials to take steps to ensure effective implementation of National Rural Health Mission. Speaking after launching the National Rural Health Mission in Dharwad district here on Wednesday, the Minister asked the officials to take medical services to the villages especially to the poor. Although the mission was launched last year, the implementation of the mission had been expedited in the current year, he said. The Minister hoped that the mission would bring about revolutionary changes in the rural medical services sector. He also underscored the need for setting up implementation committees at the taluk-level on the lines of committees at the district-level. He called on the elected representatives, officials and general public to coordinate with each other for the effective execution of the mission. Zilla panchayat president B.B. Gangadharmath stressed the need for active involvement of the officials in the mission for taking it to the rural poor. District Health and Family Welfare Officer S.B. Avaradi explained the highlights of the mission. Efforts are on to provide all medical services under one roof. For this, financial assistance is being given to primary health centres, community health centres and others, he added. Zilla panchayat pesident Geeta Patil, deputy director of Public Instruction V.M. Patil, IMA, Hubli president Puranik and others were present.
