`Karaikal carnival' to begin from January 12

KARAIKAL: The Karaikal district administration is conducting a week-long "Karaikal carnival" from January12 to 18.

According to Sudhir Kumar, Karaikal District Collector, elaborate arrangements have been made for the carnival that would be conducted at various places in the district. A number of cultural events including music programmes, art and laser shows and competitions including boat, catamaran and bullock cart races would be conducted during the festival. He said that Lt. Governor Mukut Mithi, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, and Ministers and officials would attend the carnival that would be inaugurated on January12.

Mr. Sudhir Kumar said that various achievements of the Government would also be exhibited. The festival would also highlight the tourism potential of Karaikal including the famous Lord Saneeswara Bhagavan Temple at Tirunallar.
