BANGALORE: Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) Chief Engineer (East) A.K. Gopalswamy on Thursday slapped a fine of Rs 1.3 lakh on Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) for taking up digging of roads in violation of Road Opening and Restoration Protocol. According to a release, BWSSB personnel had taken up digging of roads at six places without obtaining permission from the BMP. Unauthorised digging was noticed at the junction of Nandidurga Road-Munireddypalya Main Road; Mathadahalli Main Road; Opposite Literacy Mission Centre on Banaswadi Main Road; Opposite Ramesh Jewellery on CMR Road; Opposite Jalavayu Vihar; and Hennur Main Road. The equipment used for digging had been seized, the release said.
Encroachments
BMP's Health officials have removed encroachments on pavements in Shivajinagar and removed shops put up on Nala Road. Shopkeepers who had encroached upon the road had been issued notices and warned not to repeat it, the release added.
