Hyderabad: About 300 body-builders are expected to take part in the 45th senior national body-building championships to be held at the Hanuman Vyayamshala here from Friday. On the opening day, there will be the weigh in. A workshop on the sport will also be conducted by pharmacists, doctors, dieticians and coaches. On the second day, there will be pre-judging for all weight categories. The final pose down and prize distribution will be held on Sunday. Events will be held in nine weight categories (55kg to above-90kg) and the winner in each group will qualify for the final event, which will be for the title of Champion of Champions. The winners will get cash awards of Rs.15,000, Rs.10,000 and Rs.7,000 respectively. Some of the participants will be selected to represent India in the Commonwealth, Asian and World championships.
Football camp
The Andhra Pradesh Football Association will organise a coaching camp for the National (under-21) Dutta Ray Trophy championship at the Lal Bahadur Stadium from January 8. All the affiliated clubs of the twin cities and Ranga Reddy District and the district associations may depute two or three of their best players for the camp to be monitored by former international M.A. Sayeed. Veterans TT
The Andhra Pradesh Veterans Table Tennis Association will organise the veterans State championship in different age groups from January 7 at the Gujarati Seva Mandal High School (RP Road). SAAP posts win
Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh defeated Abbas Union 5-3 in the MCH annual open football tournament with Irfan, Naveen, Sudhakar, Kumar and Manibabu being the scorers for SAAP. For Abbas Union, the scorers were Baqar Ali, Sajjad and Raja Ali. In another match, MCH blanked Nizam College Coaching Centre 4-0 with B. Satish Kumar scoring thrice and Mohd. Ali once.
