HYDERABAD: WWF - India has announced the second and third batch of nature camps to Kolluru in the Eastern Ghats in the Papikonda Wildlife Sanctuary from January 12 to 14 and from January 25 to 27, as part of its environmental education and awareness programme. In a press release, WWF - India State Director Farida Tampal said the camps were aimed at sensitising nature lovers and create awareness about the rich and diverse landscape and the catastrophe threatening the existence of Papi Hills. The hills were home to many tribal communities including Konda Reddys, Konda Doras, Koyas and nayakpods, for ages and the sanctuary beckoned city-dwellers with a thrilling mixture of fun, adventure and nature education. Spread across Khammam, East and West Godavari districts, it extends to over 591 square km and has been known for being home to several animals like tigers, gaurs, panthers, spotted deer, sambar, hyena, jackals and sloth bear. The camps were designed exclusively for school student groups. For details, contact: 040-23533998, 93930-09251, the release said.
