WARANGAL: Imagine the plight of those living in a remote cornerdeep inside the forest. The Muthapur hamlet in Govindaraopet mandal has the Dayyala vagu on one side and the Jalagalancha vagu on the other . The area is not accessible even by a bullock-cart. No leader or Government ever gave a thought about the welfare of the 1,000-odd people living in the hamlet. For these hapless tribals, support came from an unexpected quarter. Recently, Pasra Sub-Inspector K. Devender Reddy and his team decided to adopt the village. They laid a temporary causeway over the Jalagalancha vagu on Wednesday. This paved way for the borewell rig, which arrived at the hamlet amidst much fanfare. "This is the first time that any motor vehicle entered this hamlet," explained Mr. Reddy. Before this, the tribals or their visitors had to wade through the waters to reach the hamlet. There were no streetlights, roads or drinking water schemes. Even the teachers and health workers were scared to cross the streams and then walk a kilometre to reach out to the tribals.
Development work
The inhabitants had been demanding a permanent causeway across the Dayyalavagu, but in vain. According to Mr. Reddy, although the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) has lots of funds for the development of hamlet, the contractors could not execute any work as the hamlet was located in a remote place.
