BHUBANESWAR: Even as its 12 million tonne capacity steel project is yet to take off following protests by locals, POSCO-India, the Indian subsidiary of South Korean steel major POSCO, on Thursday launched vocational training for youth. As many as 23 trainees in the age group of 18-30 years would undergo six months training in house wiring and electrician jobs at Jagatsinghpur, a company release said here. On completion of the training, they would be equipped with necessary skills and knowledge for the construction industry, enhancing their employability, it said. The steel major said some 400 jobs would be generated during the construction works for which locals would be given preference. Some 232 local volunteers were engaged in the topographic survey, which was expected to conclude by January-end, the company said.
