Three killed in road accident in Haveri

ACCIDENT SCENE: The damaged three-wheeler that collided with a truck on the outskirts of Haveri on Thursday.

HAVERI: Three persons were killed on the spot and six others, including a woman, injured in an accident involving a three-wheeler passenger vehicle and a truck on the outskirts of the city on Thursday.

The police gave the names of the dead as Govindappa Halappa Bankapur (26) of Hanumanahalli, Maruti Rayappa Olekar (40) of Chatra and Hanumanthappa Nilappa Honnanayak (55) of Haveri. The accident occurred around 12.30 p.m. when the Ranebennur-bound three-wheeler collided with the truck coming in the opposite direction near Totada Yallapur on the outskirts of Haveri. All the six persons injured in the accident have been admitted to the district hospital here and were reported to be out of danger.

The Haveri Town police have registered a case. The driver of the truck Mohammed Hanif, a resident of Kerehunasi in Davanagere district, has been into custody.
