KOLKATA : The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Polit Bureau has decided on certain steps "to improve the coordination" between the party in Kerala and the Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government led by it in the State. "Some issues concerning the State unit of the party and Government affairs" were discussed by the CPI(M) Polit Bureau and it was decided that steps would be taken to "sort out the problems" between the party and the seven-month-old State Government, CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat said. He was addressing a press conference at the completion of a three-day meeting of the party's central committee here on Thursday. "We have worked out certain measures which we shall report to our State committee there," Mr. Karat said. "Some of the measures are connected with the Government, some with the party and some with both," he said. On the issue of the Asian Development Bank loan which has led to differences within the CPI(M) leadership in Kerala, Mr. Karat said, "we are not objecting to ADB loans as such but the terms and conditions should be looked at.'' The CPI(M), at its earlier Party Congress, had laid out a "framework" on the "procedures to be adopted" when it comes to the question of loans from international financial institutions and "we have given the State unit this framework to which the State Government has to refer."
