Delay in completion of RoB poses problems

People plead the railway authorities to complete the flyover soon

TREADING WARILY: Cyclists cross the pipeline near railway overbridge at Ongole . — Sreenivas Kommuri

ONGOLE: The inordinate delay in completion of the railway over bridge (RoB) near Ongole railway station is posing problems to the people living on the side of Koppole village to reach the town.

Vehicles shuttling between Ongole and Kothapatnam have been taking a circuitous route since railways began construction of the RoB more than three years ago.

But pedestrians and cyclists prefer to reach Ongole by crossing the railway track braving risk. Their ordeal has only increased since the railways dug a drain for sewage water from the railway quarters and surrounding areas to reach Pothurajukalva.

Circuitous way

Scores of people living in NTR colony, Ware Housing Corporation godowns and Koppole had to walk on the pipeline precariously to cross the drain and reach Ongole town lest they should go the circuitous way travelling two kilometers more to reach their destinations.

They plead the railway authorities to complete the flyover soon and put an end to their ordeal.

The RoB has been sanctioned during Telugu Desam regime. While the approach roads have been completed two years ago, the railway officials are taking their own time to complete the bridge portion. As the concrete beams collapsed in January last year, the construction was further delayed.
