WARANGAL: Assembly Speaker K. Suresh Reddy will lay the foundation stone for the alumni building at Kakatiya Medical College premises on Saturday. According to college Principal P. Venugopal, old students of the college came forward to donate Rs. 5 crores for the college development. The amount will be utilised for construction of the alumni building and a girls' hostel and for acquiring other infrastructure. Former students -- T. Rajeshwar Rao, P. Nataraj, J. Sudhakar Reddy, B. Raj Siddhartha, T. Ravinder Rao -- and others were present. Mr. Rajeswhar Rao has said that 6,500 students have benefited from Kakatiya Medical College since its inception in 1959. An ad hoc committee is being constituted to enrol all old students into alumni association. Plans are on to conduct the golden jubilee celebrations of the college in a big way in 2009. Funds will be mobilised from the old students to shape the KMC into a premiere institute in the country.
