Gujars affirm support to Hooda

CM praised for ability to take all sections towards progress

CHANDIGARH: Representatives of the Gujar community on Thursday assured support to Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda "because of his ability to take along all sections of society towards progress and prosperity."

Mr. Hooda was presiding over a function organised by the Gujar Samaj Kalyan Parishad in Panchkula near here where he laid the foundation stone of a Gujar Bhawan.

Describing Gujars as "hard workers'', he urged them to educate their children to enable them to compete globally and ensure prosperity of the future generations. He announced a grant of Rs. 11 lakhs for the construction of the Gujar Bhawan and suggested that it should provide facilities to the students who would be coming to the area for higher education. Mr. Hooda said he wanted to develop Haryana as a State where people of different communities lived in unity and worked together to usher in prosperity.

Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan complimented the Chief Minister for inaugurating two projects in Kalka constituency which included an upgraded community health centre at Kalka and a Swasthya Bhawan in Panchkula and laying the foundation stones of three other projects relating to the Mata Mansa Devi Shrine complex. He also announced a grant of Rs. 5 lakhs for the construction of the Gujar Bhawan. Member of Parliament Avtar Singh Badhana said that it was Mr. Hooda who had "brought him back to the politics of Haryana from Uttar Pradesh''.

Meanwhile, Mr. Hooda said the 29-km-long Pinjore-Kalka by-pass would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 315 crores from Zirakpur to Parwanoo and completed within 30 months of the commencement of the project. Talking to media persons, he said tenders for the construction of the by-pass had already been floated.

In Panchkula, he also gave away vouchers to seven beneficiaries under the Janani Suvidha Yojna.
