BHOPAL: What comes as a New Year bonanza for all Madhya Pradesh Government employees is Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan's latest announcement to merge 50 per cent of dearness allowance with basic pay. Making the announcement on Wednesday Evening, the Chief Minister said the orders would be implemented from April 1, 2007. He said the State Government had always remained committed to serving the interests of the employees. He also expressed the hope that the Government employees would now perform to the best of their ability and serve the people and the larger cause of the State. When contacted, State Principal Secretary (Finance) Sumit Bose said the merger of 50 per cent DA with basic pay of all Govt. employees and the resultant increase in pension would entail an additional expenditure of Rs. 418 crore every year.
