NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a director of a Punjab-based pharmaceutical company on the charge of offering Rs. 25 lakh to a CBI Inspector. The bureau, on a complaint from the inspector, laid a "reverse trap" and arrested the director while he offered the bribe in a restaurant here. The CBI also arrested a chemist of Moga, Punjab, on the charge of assisting him. The inspector was probing a case under the Narcotics Drug and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 and the director was one of the accused. The case, registered last year against the director and four others, was that they had in their possession G-Norphine injection ampoules that contain Buprenorphine, a psychotropic substance under the NDPS Act. The ampoules were manufactured by the company in Moga and sold without bills for huge monetary gains. They raised bogus bills in the name of different firms of Punjab, a CBI release said.
