CHANDIGARH: Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator S.F. Rodrigues on Thursday inaugurated an e-Sampark Centre with state-of-the-art facilities in Sector 40 here. Gen. Rodrigues also launched sale of stamp papers through all the nine Sampark Centres located in different parts of the city, thus providing a big relief to the public through saving of time and energy. Another new service -- receipt of all deposits of the Chandigarh Housing Board for different schemes -- has also been introduced in all the Sampark Centres.
Public utility services
These centres provide various other public utility services including payment of taxes, issue of bus passes, issue of senior citizen card, issue of disability identity card, disbursement of pension for old age persons, widows and disabled persons, payment of electricity bills, issue of birth and death certificates, payment of water and sewerage bills, open space bookings, community hall bookings, tenant registration, domestic servants registration, passport application submission, sale/acceptance of CHB forms and payment of Airtel, Connect and Spice phone bills.
Fulfilled
The General said that the Chandigarh Administration had fulfilled its commitment for creating an efficient infrastructure for the benefit and convenience of the residents. He asked Secretary, Finance-cum-IT, S.K. Sandhu, and Director IT, Manjit Brar, to evolve a mechanism to constantly monitor and validate the services being provided in these centres and take corrective measures by clearing the bottlenecks.
