Robbers strike at Peerkankaranai

TAMBARAM : Armed robbers threatened two women at knife and took away jewels from a shop in Peerkankaranai near Tambaram on Wednesday. Police said the robbers entered the house of Amirthalingam who was also running a provision store in his house on Balaji Avenue. Around 1 p.m., three men came to the shop on the pretext of buying groceries.

Amirthalingam was away and his wife Gowri and their daughter-in-law Shyamala were in the shop.

The men forced their way into the shop and snatched jewels they were wearing after threatening them at knife point and fled from the spot. Peerkankaranai police are investigating.
