Bangalore: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, tired of what has been described as shadow boxing within the party, will issue a stern warning to party legislators and Ministers to either cooperate in strengthening the party and the Government or gear up to face mid-term elections. If they fail to fall in line with his leadership, he will offer to resign, sources in the Janata Dal (Secular) said. The party Ministers and legislators have been invited to participate in a three-day meeting at a resort near Pune commencing Friday. The sources said on Thursday that Mr. Kumaraswamy was now left with no choice but to send this message out to those Ministers and legislators who were gradually forming a dissident group and trying to put pressure on him. Mr. Kumaraswamy told The Hindu that he had undertaken a fire-fighting exercise to strengthen the party and the Government. So far, 52 legislators have confirmed their travel plans. Senior party leaders are, however, unlikely to attend the conclave. They include Home Minister M.P. Prakash, chairman of the Political Affairs Committee of the party D. Manjunath and Public Works and Energy Minister H.D. Revanna.
