Contact programme classes cancelled

TIRUCHI: The Personal Contact Programme (PCP) classes, which were to be conducted by the Centre for Distance Education of Bharathidasan University on January 6 and 7 have been cancelled in Tiruchi, Thanjavur, Pudukottai, Salem, Perambalur and Karur due to the central valuation work, a press release from the Centre here said.

Pongal tourism festival

The Jenneys Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management, Tiruchi will celebrate the Pongal Tourism Festival by organising contests for the school students of X, XI, and XII standards. The quiz contest will be on the theme Travel and Tourism, Drawing competition on Tourism theme and budding Chef - a culinary contest and `Kolapotti' for girl students. The preliminary round of the quiz and `Kolapotti' will be held on January 5 at 10 a.m. and the final round quiz, budding Chef and drawing competitions will be held on January 6. The prize distribution function will be organised on January 6 at the Academy, a press release from the institution here said.

TNEB appeal to consumers

The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board has appealed to the consumers to pay the electricity bill for January well in advance and avoid last minute rush, as the office will remain closed on January 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17, a press release from the Board here said.

Mettur level

The water level in the Mettur dam stood at 99.34 feet against the full level of 120 feet on Thursday. The inflow was 939 cusecs and the discharge, 10,000 cusecs. - Staff Reporter
