Burst in mains hits water supply

Efforts on to restore normalcy

TIRUCHI: Yet another burst in the drinking water mains of the Golden Rock Combined Drinking Water Supply scheme has disrupted supply in certain parts of the city.

The water mains burst near Senthaneerpuram this time. The Corporation has announced that drinking water supply for Ariyamangalam, Melakalkandarkottai, Ponneripuram, Senthaneerpuram, Ponmalaipatti, Subramaniapuram, Sembattu, Kallukuzhi, Khajamalai and Khaja Nagar will remain suspended on Friday owing to the burst.

Corporation engineers were engaged in repairing the mains and supply would be resumed to these areas on Saturday, the Corporation Commissioner B. Balachandran said in a press release.

The Corporation has planned to replace the pipes of the main owing to the frequent bursts.
