Swathi music fete begins tomorrow

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: This year's Swathi Sangeethotsavam will be held from Saturday to January 12 at the Kuthira Maalika here, member of the ruling family of erstwhile Travancore Pooyam Tirunal Gouri Parvathy Bayi has said.

She, along with her son, Aswathy Tirunal Rama Varma, was addressing a press conference at the Kowdiar Palace, here, on Thursday.

The inaugural concert of the festival will be by Sanjay Subramanyan. There will be a concert by Mr. Rama Varma on the second day of the festival. All concerts will begin at 6 p.m. On January 11, a symposium on Swathi Tirunal's compositions will be held at the Department of Music, University of Kerala.

The music festival was an annual event to expose music lovers to top notch artistes of Carnatic and Hindustani music, said Mr. Rama Varma.
