Kochi airport profit up

The company recorded a gross turnover of Rs.110.66 crore


  • Duty free operations accounted for 21 per cent of the revenue
  • Non-traffic revenue was 15 per cent of the total revenue

    NEDUMBASSERY: The Cochin International Airport has registered a net profit of Rs.31.78 crore during the financial year ended March 31, 2006. This was an increase of 10.38 per cent compared to the Rs.28.79 crore registered during the previous fiscal.

    During the period, the airport company recorded a gross turnover of Rs.110.66 crore as against 100.26 crore the previous financial year.

    Traffic-related income accounted for the highest portion of the total revenue at 24 per cent, the break up of which is given below: (revenue during the previous year is given in brackets)

    Landing fee Rs.199.70 lakh (Rs.198.26 lakh), parking and housing fee Rs.2.11 lakh (Rs.1.40 lakh) and terminal navigational landing charges Rs.58.32 lakh (Rs.52.20 lakh).

    Duty free operations accounted for 21 per cent of the revenue at Rs.228.35 lakh (Rs.152.02 lakh).

    Users' fee earned the company 19 per cent of the revenue with the income standing at Rs.201.48 lakh (Rs.238.97 lakh).

    For the last three months of the accounting period, there was no revenue in terms of user's fee as the airport company stopped collecting the fee at Rs.500 from every departing passenger pursuant to a decision reached by the then director board.

    Non-traffic revenue was 15 per cent of the total revenue. Passenger service fee Rs.70.14 lakh (Rs.59.73 lakh), X-Ray inspection charges Rs.7.64 lakh (Rs.7 lakh), entry ticket income Rs.13.03 lakh (Rs.15.06 lakh), income from commercial pass issued to travel agents Rs.5.77 lakh (Rs.3.38 lakh), income through parking charges Rs.1.51 lakh (Rs.78,000) and income through cargo operations Rs.73.33 lakh (Rs.59.29 lakh)

    Royalty income up

    Income earned through royalty was 15 per cent of the total revenue at Rs.167.18 lakh (Rs.153.58 lakh).

    Revenue through rent and services was Rs. 67.lakh (Rs.56.71 lakh) while the income in terms of interest was Rs.12.37 lakh (Rs.8.97 lakh) and Rs.5.23 lakh (Rs.7.05 lakh) was recorded as miscellaneous income.
