NEW DELHI: Condemning the ghastly killings in Nithari, the All-India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) has demanded a CBI enquiry into the incident and stringent legal action against the police and other officials who were `guilty of negligence.' A delegation led by the AIDWA general secretary Sudha Sundararaman visited Nithari on Thursday and the team was besieged by pleas from families whose children have gone missing. After the visit to the affected village by the seven-member team, the AIDWA demanded transparency in the distribution of relief packages to the families of the victims. It said that no discrimination should be made in the distribution of compensation. To avoid such situations in the future, the Association also called for long-term measures to ensure the safety of the children of migrant labourers by starting `anganwadis' and crèche.
