NEW DELHI: The All India Muslim Majlis-E-Mushawarat (AIMMM) on Friday expressed outrage at the execution of the former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein "after a farcical trial which violated all norms of the rule of law in both substance and procedure." In a statement, AIMMM president Syed Shahabuddin said the execution appeared to have been deliberately timed to coincide with the Haj in order to humiliate the Muslims of the world. "Execution during a public holiday was also a violation of the Iraqi law. The execution, indeed, amounts to custodial killing." Mr. Shahabuddin said he hoped that "the people of Iraq will extinguish the rising flame of civil war." Also, he appealed to them to come together in a national endeavour to force out the forces of occupation and rebuild the nation.
