Hanumadkalyanam to be organised on January 9

Kalyanam of Lord Anjaneya is conducted for universal well-being

VISAKHAPATNAM : Sri Suvarchala Hanumadkalyanam will be organised at Sri Sankara Matham in the city on January 9.

Announcing this at a media conference here on Friday, president of Sri Abhayanjaneya Adhyatmika Prachara Trust from Hyderabad Yanamandra Subrahmanyam said the kalyanam of Lord Anjaneya, who was a great devotee of Sri Rama and a saviour of devotees himself with Sri Suvarchala Devi was being conducted for universal well-being. Sages like Agastya, Garga, and Parasara had performed the kalyanotsavam in the past, he said.

"Noted poet Viswanatha Satyanarayana, film actor Dhulipala, scholar Malladi Chandrasekhara Sastry had spoken and written about Hanumadkalyanam.

The details of the event were also explained by other scholars like Annadanam Chidambara Sastry and Sanagala Venkatappaiah Sastry in the form of excerpts from Parasara Samhita," he said.

Mr. Subrahmanyam said the festivities would begin from Sunday morning with abhishekam to Sri Panchamukha Anjaneyaswami, discourses on Ramayana by noted scholars and felicitation to scholars like Sri Ramayanam Sarma, noted commentator at Tirumala Brahmotsavam and Bhadrachalam Sri Ramanavami Utsavam. Also, `Apadbhandavudu - Hanumantudu', a book written by him would be released on Friday at Sri Lalita Peetham, he said. Praja Spandana president C.S. Rao and Ramayanam Sarma were present during the press conference.
