BANGALORE: A total of 29,575 students will be awarded degrees at the 42nd annual convocation of the Bangalore University here on Saturday. Sixty-seven candidates will receive their Ph.Ds, while the toppers in various disciplines will be awarded 204 gold medals and 72 cash prizes. Honorary doctorate degrees will be conferred on Rashtrakavi G.S. Shivarudrappa; cine actor B. Saroja Devi and social activist Ruth Manorama. Supreme Court senior advocate Fali S. Nariman will deliver the convocation address, Vice-Chancellor H.A. Ranganath said on Friday.

Topping the list of gold medallists with six medals each were Chaithali K.S. (M.A. Kannada), Aatika Nizam (M.Sc. Chemistry) and Aruna Ranganathan (B.Sc.). The following students won five gold medals: Rama Bharathi M. (M.Sc. Physics); Murthy B.K. (M.Sc. Geology) and Ashish Gupta (L.L.B.) Other winners with four gold medals each were Narasimha Swamy S. (M.A. Kannada); Anantha Lakshmi G. (M.A. History); Fathima Bee M. (M.A. Economics); Saranya Venkataraman (M.Sc. Mathematics); Sham Prasad R. (M.Sc. Botany); Shruthi B.N. (B.Com.); Manjula S. (B.Ed.) and Mahesh S. (B.E. Civil Engineering).
Parking
The university has arranged parking facilities for convocation students and guests at Prasanna Kumar block, Palace Road, Government Arts College premises and Central College premises.
