Ninth standard girl commits suicide

KHAMMAM: Mystery shrouds the death of an engineering college student in the town on Friday.

According to reports, S. Koushik, 19, second year student of a private engineering college at Karepalli, was found dead on the rail track near Venkatagiri gatein Khammam town.

The death was viewed as a case of suicide, but the police investigation is still on.

Failure in faring well in one subject in the internal examination could have prompted him to take the extreme step.

The body was sent for post mortem.

Meanwhile, a ninth standard girl of the Zilla Parishad high school committed suicide by consuming poison at Annapureddipalli.

According to reports, the girl was hurt as her classmates questioned her friendship with a boy from the same school.

One of the school teachers tried counselling the girl as well as her friends who were after her on Thursday.

However, the girl consumed pesticide when her father was away in the morning. She was rushed to a hospital but in vain.

Police have registered a caseand have started investigating.
