Konni wins championship in schools youth fete

SVGV HSS tops high school section

PATHANAMTHITTA: The Konni educational sub-district has won the overall championship in the three-day Pathanamthitta revenue district schools' youth festival which came to a close at Konni on Friday evening

It scored 417 points in the high school section and 166 points in the upper primary (UP) section.

The Thiruvalla sub-district with 326 points and the Kozhencherry sub-district with 313 points came second and third in the high school section.

The Adoor and Pathanamthitta sub-districts with 149 and 147 points respectively came second and third in the UP section.

SVGV HSS, Kidangannur, near Aranmula, was the top-scorer in the high school section with 138 points.

In the UP section, the school came second with 62 points.

St. Theresa's Bethany Convent HSS, Chengaroor, near Mallappally, and MGM HSS, Thiruvalla, with 125 points and 122 points respectively came second and third in the high school section.

At the UP level, St. Theresa's Bethany Convent HSS, Chengaroor, was adjudged the top scorer with 91 points.

NSS English Medium UP School, Pandalam, came third with 54 points.

Among Government schools in the district, Kalanjoor Government HSS garnered the maximum number of points - 68 - in the high school section and 48 points in the UP section.

Pathanamthitta MLA K. Sivadasan Nair distributed the trophies to the winners at the valedictory function.

Konni block panchayat president Robin Peter presided.

The first prize winners in various competitions held at the youth festival on Friday are: Mohiniyattom: Neethu Krishnan, Government Vocational HSS, Aranmula.

Chenda: Charlie Joseph, PHSS, Mezhuvely.

Drama (HS): Atlin Elizabeth Varghese and party, MMA HSS, Maramon.

Group song: Jency Ann Jose and party, BEM HSS, Kumbanad.

Chenda (Thayambaka): Vineesh Vinayan, St. Thomas HSS, Eruvellipra.

Kuchipudi: Amruthakala, SNDP HSS, Chenneerkara.

Elocution-UP (English): Jesley Mathews Mlayil, SVGV HSS, Kidangannur.

Daff Muttu: Johnson Babu Geevarghese, MGM HSS, Thiruvalla.

Violin (Girls): Meera Mathew, DBHSS, Thiruvalla.

Violin (Boys): S. Ananthakrishnan, St. Thomas VHSS, Pannivizha.

Story writing (Girls): S. Saranya, National HS, Vallamkulam.

Story writing (Boys): Yadukrishnan, PSVPM HSS, Ayravon.

Light music (Girls): R. Reshma, Government HSS, Adoor.
