Lucknow: Three expelled Lucknow University students, including a union leader, facing criminal charges in the wake of violence in the campus last month, surrendered before police on Friday, official sources said. Shouting slogans against the Vice Chancellor, former Lucknow University Students Union General Secretary Ram Singh Rana, Saket Singh Sonu and Bhuvnesh Pratap Singh surrendered before the police. They were later produced before a court and were sent to jail. The officials said so far, 14 student leaders, one of them a girl, had landed in jail. All these leaders, facing criminal charges including vandalisation, were expelled during the recent cleanliness drive launched by the V-C. Some expelled students handed over a memorandum to Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav demanding setting up of a panel to probe V-C's claim in an affidavit to the High Court that flesh trade and drug pedalling were going on in the campus. The University was shut down in December and students were asked to vacate hostels following violence.
