NDMC fined for poor upkeep of parks

NEW DELHI: Taking strong exception to poor maintenance of parks, gardens and public places in the national Capital territory, the State Consumer Commission has imposed a penalty of Rs.25 lakh on New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) and two of its senior officials. The Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, disposing off a complaint filed by Talkatora Garden Morning Walkers Association alleging poor upkeep of a garden of the area, directed that Rs.5 lakh of the total fine would be recovered from the NDMC chairperson and the director of its Horticulture Department.

The Associationhad approached the Commission for upkeep of the park.- PTI
