Vijayawada
Staff Reporter
VIJAYAWADA: Though real estate prices are registering a steady growth in Vijayawada, they shot up manifold in the wake of TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao's victory in Karimnagar bye-election. In fact, the poll gave a boost to the market with real estate agents reporting 20 per cent to 30 per cent hike in the land prices after Mr. Rao resigned the Parliament seat and won it back. In the heart of the city, prime land has come in for great demand and is commanding anywhere between Rs. 70,000 to Rs. 1 lakh per square yard. Moving towards the outskirts and based on location, the present price range between Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 30,000 per square yard. The price escalation is the same even in other parts of Krishna district where owners of farm fields have started asking for unheard of prices. Those owning fields along arterial roads, these days, are not hesitating to ask even thrice the price that was in vogue a couple of months ago. At present, the price being quoted is Rs. 2 crores an acre for fields along Vijayawada-Guntur road and Vijayawada-Machilipatnam road, while a range of Rs. 40 lakhs to Rs. 50 lakhs is what is quoted for acreage dotting the Vijayawada-Nuzvid road.
