PATHANAMTHITTA: Revenue Minister K.P. Rajendran said on Saturday that the Government planned to issue `patta' (title deeds) to 25,000-40,000 people within the next four years. The Minister announced this during two meetings held in connection with the inauguration of the newly constructed village office buildings at Mallappuzhasserry, near Kozhencherry, and Kulanada, near Pandalam, on Saturday. Mr. Rajendran said `pattayamelas' would be organised in all 14 districts in the State from January 20 to March 2. It will be held in Pathanamthitta on February 13. As many as 10,000 landless people in the district would be given title deeds within the next four years, he said. The Minister said the Government planned to constitute a Land Bank, which would provide information on Government land in different parts of the State. Union Minister for Rural Development Reghuvansa Prasad had assured the Government of Central assistance to provide land to all homeless people, he added. Mr. Rajendran said computerisation of all village offices in the State would be completed within three years. The State Government favoured implementing the Karnataka-model for computerisation of village offices, he said.
