Tikhonov, Kolesnichenko bag titles

CHANDIGARH: Alexey Tikhonov of Russia and Aleksandra Kolesnichenko of Uzbekistan won the boys' and girls' titles respectively in the Sunny Enclave ITF grade III junior tennis tournament at the CLTA Complex here on Saturday.

In the final, Tikhonov proved too good for the local favourite Vijayant Malik and conceded a mere four games as he raced to victory.

It was a double delight for the Russian as he won the doubles title with Rifat Biktyakov of Uzbekistan, and the duo accomplished the task blanking the Koreans in the final.

The results (finals):

Boys: Alexey Tikhonov (Rus) bt Vijayant Malik 6-3, 6-1; Doubles: Alexey Tikhonov (Rus) and Rifat Biktyakov (Uzb) bt Jeong Han Seo and Jae Beom Kim (Kor) 6-0, 6-0.

Girls: Aleksadra Kolesnichenko (Uzb) bt Jessy Rompies (Ina) 6-0, 6-4; Doubles: Polina Dzyuba (Rus) and Beatrice Gumulya (Ina) bt Olga Makhova and Nanuli Pipiya (Rus) 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. — Special Correspondent
