KADAPA: District Collector M.T. Krishna Babu on Saturday said that Kadapa has rich cultural and historical background and was also prominent geologically as nearly one-third of the country was referred to as `Kadapa basin'. He was speaking at the inaugural of the 31st Andhra Pradesh History Congress session here. The first Telugu inscription dating back to 6 A.D. was discovered at Kalamalla and the second one pertaining to 7 A.D. at Yerragudipadu in the district, he said. The district was the abode of eminent personalities and poets such as Tallapaka Annamacharya, Bammera Pothana, Yogi Vemana, Molla, Allasani Peddanna, Pothuluri Veerabrahmendra Swamy, C.P. Brown and Ayyalaraju Ramabhadrudu, Mr. Babu said. The Collector advised students to opt for specialisation in history after exploring the job opportunities in the changing environment. Those specialising in history should not be left jobless and frustrated, he said.
