HUBLI: The Karnatak University College Teachers Association (KUCTA) has opposed the State Government's move to use the services of lecturers of degree colleges for revision of voters' list and urged the Government to drop the move. In a letter addressed to Minister for Higher Education D.H. Shankaramurthy and Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj Horatti, which was released to the press, KUCTA president Lingaraj Angadi and other office-bearers have said that the move would affect the teaching and evaluation work. Karnatak University has introduced semester system for degree courses from 2005-06. The examinations were held in November and December and the evaluation of the answer scripts was on. Classes of second and fourth semester had begun, the letter said. According to the semester the college teachers will not only have to complete the syllabus before March 31 but also take up the work of internal assessment and practical examinations compulsorily. They urged the Minister to exempt to college teachers from the revision work of voters list.
