KOZHIKODE: M.P. Veerendrakumar, MP, has urged the Central Government to enact a legislation on admission to private professional colleges. He termed the High Court's adverse verdict on the LDF Government's legislation on admission to self-financing colleges as unfortunate. Mr. Veerendrakumar said the principal objective of the law was to create more opportunities for professional education for students from the weaker sections of society. He said the State Government had unanimously passed the legislation. The Congress, he added, should support a legislation if it was brought forward by the Centre. He welcomed the State Government's decision to challenge the High Court verdict in the Supreme Court.
