THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Left Democratic Front (LDF) convener Vaikom Viswan has said that the LDF would go to any extent to ensure provision of higher education to students belonging to poor families. In a statement here on Saturday, Mr. Viswan said the people know well why the Opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) is jubilant following the Kerala High Court verdict quashing key provisions of the Kerala Self-Financing Colleges Act. Those who have unleashed the campaign that the High Court verdict is a setback for the LDF Government were spokesmen for those who have entered the field of education to plunder wealth, he added. Mr. Viswan said the High Court verdict was unfortunate. The LDF would go ahead with its efforts to end capitation fees in the field of higher education and its commercialisation.
