One killed as Congress, TDP men clash

GUNTUR: One person was killed and six others were grievously injured at Enikipadu village in Amaravathi mandal of Guntur district on Saturday when Congress and Telugu Desam supporters clashed.

Amaravathi Sub-Inspector Shiva Shankar said that a minor dispute on Friday night had acquired political colour leading to clash between the two groups, wielding arms. The TDP supporters allegedly hacked to death Pashyam Umamaheswara Rao, a Congress supporter and injured six others.

The police were on the look-out for 12 persons involved in the clash, the SI said. The condition of an injured person, Pashyam Venkateswara Rao, also of the Congress, was said to be critical.
