BJP calls for status quo

Puducherry: Puducherry unit of the Bharathiya Janata party (BJP) has called upon the Centre to jettison its move to convert the JIPMER into an autonomous body. Its president here M. Visweswaran said on Saturday that a meeting of the party held on Friday adopted a resolution registering strong protest against the Centre's move.

Any disturbance in its working would cause immense hardships to the poor patients in getting free medical care and staff would also be facing dislocation in their working conditions, Mr. Visweswaran added.
