HUBLI: Fifteen villages in Dharwad district have been selected under the "Suvarna Grama" scheme, of which three are in Kalghatgi taluk, Revenue Minister and district-in-charge minister Jagadish Shettar has said. Addressing a public meeting after laying foundation stones for various developmental works in Kalghatgi on Saturday, the Minister said at least Rs. 1 crore would be spent on the development of each village under the scheme. The process of setting up "telecentres" at 800 hoblis in the State had begun, through which the villagers could get birth, death certificates, record of rights, income certificates and other documents, he said. The process of setting up such centres at Dummawada and Tabakadahonnalli in the taluk is under progress, he added. The Minister said that Kalghatgi taluk had been identified as industrially backward region in the new industrial policy. Facilities would be made available to those who came forward to establish industries in the taluk, he added.
