Exhibition draws large crowd

Staff Correspondent

Raichur: An exhibition of carbon sketches and paintings highlighting historical events, life in rural areas, animals and birds and portraits of interesting personalities of the district is attracting several visitors who reached the district stadium to attend the taluk Kannada Sahitya Sammelan being organised at the Rangamandira here on Saturday.

From across the district

Each time the Kannada Sahitya Parishat organises a function at the Rangamandira here, professional and aspiring artists from across the district bring their works to set up stalls and sell their works.

Nearly three hundred paintings and art works are on display this time.

Some paintings highlight the remains of the historical Raichur fort and some are based on themes of nature. Many of the paintings are reasonably priced, though some have been tagged "unaffordable" by some visitors.

However, the exhibition seems to be a success as it attracted many visitors who gathered there for the sammelan.
