IIT Roorkee alumni meeting today

NEW DELHI: IIT Roorkee Alumni Association, National Capital Region, is organising Global Meet-2007 at The Ashok hotel here on Sunday. The meet has been titled ``Vision 2020-Nation Building".

While IIT Roorkee Alumni Association NCR president S.C. Sharma will deliver the welcome address, R.K. Singh, president of the IIT Roorkee Alumni Association, Roorkee, will give the inaugural address. Later, eminent alumni, donors and lifetime achievers will be felicitated.

Changes in DTC route 892

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Transport Corporation has announced some changes in its Route 892.

A DTC release on Saturday said the services on the route being operated between D-Block Janakpuri and Old Delhi railway station have been modified between Pahar Ganj Police Station and Delhi Gate to run via New Delhi station over-bridge, Ajmere Gate, Turkman Gate, LNJP Hospital, Delhi Gate and then on to its usual route instead of running via New Delhi railway station Gate No.1, Connaught Place, Mandi House and ITO.

Benegal interacts with children

NEW DELHI: Noted Hindi filmmaker Shyam Benegal on Saturday shared his own experiences as a child with children belonging to economically marginalised sections of society in the Capital.

At a camp organised by Bharat Shodh Education Alliance, Mr. Bengal said films should not be made for commercial reasons alone. The filmmaker recounted his own personal saga of struggle to the children.

New OPD block for Dayanand Hospital

NEW DELHI: Delhi Mayor Farhad Suri on Saturday dedicated a newly constructed OPD block at Swami Dayanand Hospital in Shahdara to the residents of East Delhi. The OPD was earlier being run on the ground floor of the hospital.

The new three-storey OPD block will have separate clinics for eye, skin and ENT treatment. A library and a conference hall have also been provided on the first floor of the new building.

Malhotra dedicates school building

NEW DELHI: BJP Member of Parliament V. K. Malhotra dedicated a primary school building in Rajouri Garden here to the residents of West Delhi on Saturday. The two-storey building has been constructed near the Janata Market.

Pointing out that many MCD schools had been closed down because people prefer sending their children to private schools, Mr. Malhotra said new school buildings being built by the civic body would increase enrolment and strengthen the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.
